Kettle - has three legs, swivel handle, 7.5" diameter, pitted rusted. Note attached reads J. Fred Walden/ This Kettle given to Grandmother Walden ( Mrs. W.C. Walden) 1819-1904 by an old woman for a favor done (lent her a sunbonnet) She said that it was very old, given her about 1830.

Boonie Hat worn by Capt. Sarah Noyes, West Point Grad, Iraq and Afghanistan Vet. Boonie hat derives from Vietnam. A bush hat, worn by elite troops in deep jungles where helmets would not be of much use. Sarah's unit in Iraq was issued Boonie hats but her Company Commander would not allow any head gear but hte kevlar helmet. (Info. from Mike Kennedy.)
