Keycase from Grundy's garage. Maroon leather key case with gold ornamentation and printing. Note with donation reads, "This keycase was given to me by Pete Schryver of Church St. Attached are my thoughts on Grudy's garage where I worked as bookkeeper for many years...This keycase dates back to about 1935 when Elmer Noble had taken charge of Grundy's Garage located in the building where "The Cottage" and bookstore are now operating on Water St, Williamstown. Mr. Noble sold a few Pontiacs for years. Basically he had his helpers repair cars and provide car owners with gasoline and oil, regular servicing, and inspection stickers. Later he acquired a wrecker. The rear fifth of the building was where mechanics repaired cars. The building was organized like this (see image file for scan of sketch). |
