Description |
Of simple design, wooden, stained, large "Great Wool Spinning Wheel." Sometimes called a "Walking Wheel." 3 scored legs support a thick base which has been chamfered on the down side edges and carved on the up side edges. On one end of the thick base sits a tall carved wooden piece which holds a smaller wooden wheel. On the other end a tall thick rounded peg supports the great wheel by the use of a metal piece. The spokes are ismple and flared at the outer edges. The outside part of the wheel is done in sections of thin strips of wood which has been steamed and bent.
