Description |
Wooden, stained brown, bow-back, knuckle-arm, windsor-type, arm chair. It seems to be homemade of the lesser quality because it does not project the lightness (likeness?) of the windsor style. The back has the 7 thin spindles which run through the thin brace. The knuckle arms have a scroll carving (probably done mechanically) on the inside and outside. They are supported by bulb-type uprights and a metal rod which is directly behind upright. The seat is oval, thick, and awkward. Legs have wide ringings (mechanically) and a double stretcher. Ref: Nutting, Wallace, A Windsor Handbook., Charles E. Tuttle Co., Rutland, Vermont, 2nd ed., 1973, p. 18. Condition: Excellent, finish is slightly worn on back Dates: late 1800's - early 1900's Size: H 3', .5", L (seat)1'4", W (seat) 1'3" Location: Collections Room |
